On the occasion of Mickey Mouse's 90th anniversary, Disney organizes a great interactive show called 'Mickey: The True Original Exhibition' in New York and a program of events and initiatives worldwide. On this significant occasion, Disney chose Bosa to create a limited edition sculpture. Disney had no doubts in choosing Bosa, a company that boasts high craftsmanship expertise and a wonderful language in its collections: a unique expressive force that the company has built up through continuous experimentation and collaborations with the most promising designers. Among the various Bosa designers, Elena Salmistraro has managed to interpret precisely that spirit of joy and vitality of Mickey Mouse. From this significant collaboration, a very precious and unique collector's item was born, present in some selected Disney shoowrooms. Entirely handmade, according to the ancient ceramics techniques. The plaster molds allow for detailed formal control of the project. Once the piece has been separated from the mold, it is thoroughly cleaned and studied in detail, and, once dried, it is ready to be baked in appropriate ovens. Following the first baking, a compact biscuit is obtained, then proceeding with several baking as to obtain the vitrification of the enamel and the retouching of imperfections, until a product of unique quality is obtained. The range of colors stands for the exclusivity of Bosa products: in fact the enamels, which allow the vitrification of the sculpture, are mixed and composed in Bosa laboratories. Each piece, after the first baking, is immersed in tanks containing the liquid enamel and then is thoroughly cleaned of drops and imperfections. The decorations are rigorously brush-painted by masters with the utmost precision and experience. The metals used are of extreme nobility and value: we are talking about gold, platinum, copper and their ranges. The brush-painted metals melt together with the enamel during the baking process which, with a 720 ° temperature, guarantees the quality and lenght of the material. Walt said, "I just hope you never forget one thing: it all started with a mouse." To some Mickey Mouse was a childhood companion, for others he represented the symbol of pop culture: we all loved and worshipped him and today, Elena Salmistraro wanted to reproduce him with street-art shorts and studded shoes. A unique limited edition piece is the right recognition for a timeless character par excellence.
