This project is a fine example of the use of Metaphor (or perhaps Allegory, or who knows what other of the many rhetorical figures in linguistics) in the field of design. I remember that in the literature the term "figure of speech" referred to any artifice in a speech used to create a special effect. Occurs when in a sentence a normal term is replaced by another whose essence or function obscures that of the original term, thus creating a highly expressive image (examples: "you are such a fool", "swan song", "sleeping like a dormouse "," the party is in turmoil "...). Often also used in the field of design, rhetorical figures have become almost fundamental in the case of the so-called playful design: as can be seen in these three projects by Key and Bozzoli in which the Cowbell alludes to the Parmigiano della Grattugia, the belt buckle alludes to the act of squeezing the squeezer and the chestnut-shaped pillbox evokes (for those who remember) the ancient custom of keeping at hand a small portion of chestnut powder to put under the nose for medicinal purposes in case of strong colds.
