Porcelain bowl, from the Holyhedrics collection. Featuring an evocative design, the peculiarity of this beautiful accessory lies in the choice of the digital-style decoration, rich in pixel inserts and bright colors. Designed by Elena Salmistraro for Alessi.
Holyhedrics is the latest masterpiece of the brilliant artist and designer Elena Salmistraro. The highlight of the collection are the beautiful nativity figures. Besides these exclusive pieces, Elena Salmistraro adds other accessories such as cups, plates and bowls. Each piece that makes up the beautiful collection is characterized by a magnificent pattern, which combines centuries-old traditions with current elements, such as pixels. In the Holyhedrics collection we find Asian, North American and South American influences, showing Salmistraro's versatility.
“Telling the story of birth, designing a nativity scene and relating to spirituality is never easy. Therefore, I tried to strip the nativity of any excess, seeing it as a set of sculptural objects, as volumes in space. A sculpture as a set of solid volumes, in relation to light, is the focal point of my project, creating strong, angular, 'brutalist' figurines, let's say, but at the same time surrounded by an almost regal aura, which unconsciously married perfectly to the sacred subject depicted. Hence the name Holyedrics, the amusing union between Holy and Polyhedron, a volume with a thousand faces. The idea of ??royalty is accentuated thanks to the use of gold decorations, typical of sacred art, but the real peculiarity are the pixel inserts, a multicolored decoration of digital inspiration also used for cups, bowls and plates that gives the objects a contemporary aesthetics, a global-multicultural character, which stands for union, coexistence, multiplicity and peace ”Elena Salmistraro.
