In 1992, the master designer Alessandro Mendini collaborated with the Alessi brand for the 100% Make-up project: 100 porcelain vases, each decorated by 100 different artists who took part in the initiative, reproduced in a maximum of 100 copies per vase. A collective work, with 100 decorations proposed from as many corners of the world, of the diversity not only of the individual but also of the cultures they represent. The name, 100% Make-up was conceived in 1992 by the brilliant mind of Alessandro Mendini for his collaboration with Alessi dedicated to a particular section called “Tendentse”. A project which, due to its organizational and technical complexities, required a commitment of more than three years and which fully reflects Alessandro Mendini's design methods: not just a designer but a total artist, specifically "Renaissance". Alessandro Mendini's decoration in this exclusive project is the "Proust", which takes its name from the French writer and whose decoration is inspired by the Parisian pointillist painters. The fascinating alternation between dotted motifs and golden inserts transforms 100% Proust make-up into a fascinating painting. Ultimately, the combination of its two souls translates into an even greater one, which is that of a poetic icon of design.
