The Flora collection was born out of Nani Marquina's admiration for the work of Barcelona-based artist Santi Moix. Based in New York and with numerous international exhibitions, this multifaceted contemporary artist devotes himself to drawing, printmaking and mainly to painting where he concentrates his space for reflection. For this extraordinary collaboration, Santi Moix explores the life cycle of flowers with remarkable sensitivity and vivacity, masterfully reproduced on hand-quilted wool carpets. Moix uses images of flowers to explore the fragility of life and death. "Flowers have a great ability to bring people together. They have a beginning and an end. I like to represent them in all their phases, from the initial explosion to the final fragility, because every moment, as in life, has beauty and importance. Moix perfectly transcribes the richness of their colours, shapes and textures through contrasting compositions that stimulate the senses. The Flora carpet collection comprises three designs: Promenade, which is teeming with brightly coloured flowers, and Backyard, which represents the wild flowers commonly found in the garden of a house. The latest model, Bloom, is available in two versions that capture different moments in the life of a flower: wilting and flowering. Each Flora carpet is made using a high-quality hand-quilted technique, which allows for great precision in the patterns to faithfully reproduce Santi Moix's original designs.
