Very charming and elegant, Ai Weiwei cups are conceived in a process of appropriation and destruction. With this transformation process from an artifact of the past to a work of contemporary art, Ai Weiwei alludes to the systematic destruction of history and culture carried out in China at the time of Mao up to state capitalism today.
