With Kukinto collection, Timo Sarpaneva made objects that can tell stories. For creating Kukitno vases, the designer chooses the master glasswork of bands: pours a molten pattern of coloured glass threads, which are technically called Bands, onto a generally transparent body of glass placed in the centre. After blending them into each other, he covers everything with an extremely thin layer of crystal thus obtaining an irregular and highly impactful chromatic pattern. In these vases, the main characteristics are grace and harmony; glass appears as if floating in the air. It comes to life and starts to move. Paolo Venini is an Italian glassmaker, designer and glassware manifacturer, whose works are outstanding for their combination of traditional technique and innovative shape. His glass workshop, in Murano, contributed to the revival of at-glass manifacture in the 1930s and 40s and employed some of the finest designers of the period, among them Gio Ponti and Tyra Lundgren. From the beginning, Venini's workshop turned out beautiful tableware, years ahead of the work of other contemporary designers.
