The Black on White collection, designed by Nanimarquina, brings together several design personalities: a painter, a writer and a gallery owner, Javier Mariscal, Joaquim Ruiz Millet and Xano Armenter respectively. With their three carpets, Estambul, Manuscrit and Limbo, the three designers have created true works of art that share a common bond, namely the absence of colour. The contrast between black and white intensifies the essence and identity of each piece. Each carpet is a polarisation, a division, a masterpiece under your feet. All 3 carpets are made of New Zealand wool, using the hand-quilting technique. this technique requires a tool similar to a gun to pierce the fibre threads in a fabric previously stretched in a loom. To start the process, the strands are perforated in areas marked by the mapping, then the protruding strands are cut and shaved to achieve the desired hair height. The design is created with scissors or a needle and, once the pattern is defined, a layer of latex is applied to the bottom of the carpet so that the threads remain attached to the structure.
